Kuhina WELLNESS CENTER on the Big Island of Hawaii is located north and east of Kailua-Kona, south and west of Waimea and is “up-country” from the Pacific Ocean.
Nestled in a lush green, park like setting, at 2000 feet elevation the Center is situated between two lava flows from the now dormant Haulalai volcano in picturesque Puuanahulu. In ancient times this was the summer home for Hawaii's royal family the “Ali'i.”
This unique area is surrounded by ponds, waterfalls, footpaths, and all varieties of plants and trees. Looking out across the ocean waters you see Haleakala mountain on the island of Maui.
The blue skies in the morning, breezes and clouds in the afternoon keep the daytime temperatures in the mid-70s year round. The cool evenings and clear night skies create an ideal background for stargazing and for viewing the Milky Way.
The Center's studio is 32' x 40' with a professional hardwood dance floor and quadraphonic sound system. The space comfortably accomodates up to 50 people in a workshop setting and 20 people doing movement or floor work. A second room adjacent to the studio, smaller in size, is ideal for small groups, one-on-one meetings or various forms of body work.
Since it's opening in November 2006, the Center has hosted numerous programs–on a regular basis and provides the opportunity for residential programs, as well as evening or weekend events. The Center is able to accommodate a variety of formats from seminars, meetings, retreats, workshops, parties, weddings, etc.
For residential programs, the Center arranges lodging for participants at a 100 year old renovated homestead that houses up to 17 people. Several smaller units are available on an “as needed” basis.
To get there: Take the Hawai'i Belt Road (Hwy. 190 - also known as Mamalahoa Highway). As you head north (from Kailua-Kona), the Kuhina WELLNESS CENTER is on the right side of the road, directly across from the Big Island Country Club. As you head south from Waimea, we are located on the left side of the road at mile marker 20.
